2026 Nissan Leaf Leads a Major Brand Overhaul Nissan was one of the pioneers of the modern EV age, launching the Leaf at a time when public charging stations were as rare as a phone booth today, and when Tesla's Model S wasn't even in production. But we're now in a different era for electric vehicles, one that has seemingly moved past the early models' hatchback, commuter roots. Nissan's next-gen Leaf, due to land as a 2026 model, will share its platform with the Ariya and should be far closer to the larger Ariya in size than to the original Leaf.
