Back in October we went to a United Way of Fort Smith fundraiser & the main takeaway was Kindness & how we can use December to spread as much kindness as possible in our little world.
According to the Mayo Clinic: Kindness has been shown to increase self-esteem, empathy and compassion, and improve mood. It can decrease blood pressure and cortisol, a stress hormone, which directly impacts stress levels. People who give of themselves in a balanced way also tend to be healthier and live longer. So we will be sharing ideas for spreading kindness all month long.
We invite you to donate or volunteer or both for the Children's Shelter. The Children's Shelter & @getreal24 are an important part of our community. We have a lot of foster kids in our area & they need our support. The mission of the Children's Shelter is to be a safe and stable home that provides long-term, evidence-based, trauma-informed, resident-centered and family-focused care to youth in foster care who exhibit emotional and behavioral disorders due to neglect and/or abuse. The CES allows children in crisis the opportunity to JUST BE KIDS! Get Real 24 will equip foster youth, ages 18 & older, with like skills needed to become self-sufficient, contributing citizens by providing resources & relationships to assist their successful transition into adulthood. How will you invest? Become a mentor, employ a young adult, volunteer, teach a life-skills class. Donate your time, your talent, your money.
Terry is one of our favorite employees & a GetReal24 resident. He's pictured here with Harry Robinson Buick GMC's general sales manager, Scott who is also a former foster.
We will be posting ideas for speeding kindness all month long so please check back. Look for ways to spread cheer, and I know you will find great ones.
