In the spirit of our December of Kindness, today we highlight Adoption.
Our accounts payable genius Angela & her husband are awesome parents & Solomon is an outstanding young man. Here's what they had to say about adoption:
Over the past 9 years, my husband Brett and I have been asked to write about or talk about our adoption story on many occasions. We love the story of our family and are always willing to tell it when asked - and sometimes even when we're not asked. However, this year when we were given the opportunity to tell our story we decided to ask our son Solomon if he wanted to write about adoption from his perspective. Solomon will be ten years old on December 31st. Here is what he has to say about adoption…
"Adoption is amazing! It is a great opportunity to get a child and welcome them as part of your family. I don't have any doubt that God chooses for me to be a part of the Henry family. Adoption is a great thing, so if you are thinking about adoption I would wildly encourage you to do it. I would never want to NOT be a part of my family. I don't know much about my birth mother, but I do know she must have been a very kind and loving person to let somebody adopt me. I love being adopted!!"
*If you're considering adoption & you are in Arkansas, your first step is to either attend an informational meeting through @thecallincrawfordsebastian www.thecallinarkansas.org or fill out an inquiry form through DCFS online at www.fosterarkansas.org Either of these will get you started in the process! You can find out when the next informational meetings for The CALL are by visiting the website listed. At the info meeting you will learn all of details about becoming a foster or adoptive family and have the opportunity to sign up for training and begin the paperwork process. After training and CPR, you will have a home study and final walk through before opening to adopt. Once you are an open and approved home, you will be invited to all of Project Zero's connection events and have the opportunity to inquire about waiting kids.
Here are some other ways to spread holiday cheer this week:
We will be posting ideas for spreading kindness all month long so please check back. Look for ways to spread cheer, and I know you will find great ones.
