Rivian Is the Latest to Adopt Tesla NACS Connector

Rivian became the third automaker in the past few weeks to reveal plans to adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS), following similar moves announced by Ford and General Motors. Rivian owners will be able to start using Tesla's Supercharger network next spring thanks to a cable adapter, before the models themselves start offering built-in NACS charging ports in 2025.

Starting next year Supercharger stations will likely have lines of vehicles that aren't Teslas waiting to recharge.

But Rivian is different from Ford and GM in one other aspect (besides having been an EV-only manufacturer from the start).

Rivian has invested in building up not one but two charging networks of its own, with the EV maker's Adventure Network aimed solely for the exclusive use of its owners, in addition to a wider Waypoint network for all EVs.

Cadillac Escalade IQ Confirmed as the EV Version of the Deluxe SUV

With the debuts of the GMC Hummer EV and the Chevrolet Silverado EV, we knew it wouldn't be long before we saw a certain large Cadillac use the Ultium platform. Such a model is on the way, Cadillac confirmed this month, with the Escalade IQ set for a reveal in just a few weeks. And now Cadillac has even shared a couple of glimpses of its upcoming electric mega yacht.
At this point two things are clear: The Escalade IQ will take inspiration from the smaller Lyriq when it comes to design, and it will also feature one of the largest EV batteries on the market.
But what about battery specs, performance, and range?
The GMC Hummer EV SUV should provide the best clues, as it could be the Cadillac's closest sibling in the Ultium lineup.

Rivian R2 Compact SUV Targeted for 2026 Launch, $40,000 Starting Price

Rivian may have made a name for itself thanks to the R1T pickup truck, which beat the Cybertruck and a few others to market.
But beyond the R1T and the R1S, which are both pricey lifestyle models, the EV maker will need a more affordable EV in the not too distant future.
That more affordable EV will be known as the R2, and it will seek to offer what Rivian's current models do in a smaller package. This means some of their off-road abilities and camping friendly featured could be swapped for more everyday comfort.

But Rivian will also face an extensive cast of competitors when the R2 eventually goes on sale, and will have to differentiate its offerings in other ways.
