Here's what the Acura ZDX promises

This week the automaker took the wraps off the ZDX, previewing its first mass-market competitor in this category. Foreshadowed by the Acura Precision EV concept last year, the ZDX will be the based on GM's Ultium platform, which will also underpin its Honda sibling.    As with other electric crossovers and SUVs we've seen recently, there will be a few versions on the menu. For starters, Acura will offer single-motor variant with 340 hp on tap and a range of over 300 miles.    A dual-motor version will debut as well, also good for 340 hp, but Acura says its range won't be dented much by the extra motor up front.    The main event, however, will be the ZDX Type S, with this dual-motor performance version promising 500 hp.    Read on to find out all the specs that Acura has revealed thus far, and when we'll see these on sale. Among other things, this buys you a 0-to-60-mph launch time of 2.27 seconds, good if you're sitting next to some lesser version of a Lucid Air or a Tesla Model S at a stoplight.    The list of tech inside is practically unending, and not easy to translate into plain English.     But who is this EV really for?    We think we have a pretty good idea. But the latest "additions" to its lineup don't really involve anything different under the skin per se.    A few days ago the EV maker quietly introduced Standard Range versions of the Model S and the Model X, both priced $10,000 south of the two current Long Range versions of the models.     If 320 miles in a Tesla Model S is enough for you, compared to 405 in the Long Range version, this more affordable model may be for you.
