Putting on Airs: Lucid Needs to Sell More Cars, but How?

Lucid captured the EV range crown a couple of years ago, setting a bar that's going to be hard to top for any EV maker. But now the startup is having to contend with serious headwinds, seemingly prompted by a slowdown in overall EV demand.

And Lucid now faces competition not only from Tesla, but from Mercedes-Benz and BMW in the luxury EV sedan segment.

One difference, perhaps, is that you have to proactively seek out Lucid—you can't just drop by a local dealership in some small town to kick the tires. And they're not cheap.

But do the various versions of the Air sedan offer a superior driving experience to its rivals to justify the price and the risk of betting on a new EV maker?

That's one of the things we wanted to find out when we went to test out all four versions of the Lucid Air sedan.

Here's How Honda's Ohio EV Hub Plans Are Going

The Honda Prologue is here to jump-start the automaker's EV lineup, after a few smaller-scale experiments like the Clarity EV sedan. (Give yourself a pat on the back if you remember that one).
But the Prologue and its Acura twin aren't entirely Honda's machines underneath—they're based on GM's Ultium platform.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Makes Crossover Utilities Cool—And Quick

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 won early praise for its design, offering a roomy electric crossover with the bodystyle of a hatchback. Hyundai's EV lineup has been a breath of fresh air, and not just because of the Ioniq 5's cyberpunk taillights.

But until recently, Hyundai has focused on the the more mundane EV metrics like range and recharge speeds.

Now there's a 641-hp version of the Ioniq 5, promising 0-to-60 mph launches in 3.25 seconds.

And we went to drive it at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
