2024 Fiat 500e Bets Big on Being Small

The Fiat 500e is back, with the Italian automaker once again placing a bet on a small car rather than trying to compete with large and expensive electric SUVs that now proliferate. And we have just driven it for the first time.
It's safe to say that the cheeky, retro-style exterior design of the new Cinquecento won't surprise anyone, except for the clever headlight part, and neither will its dimensions. The interior is certainly modern, complete with a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
But with just a 42-kWh battery pack underneath, will it offer EV shoppers enough range?
The good news is that the new battery pack is almost twice as large as in the last-gen 500e, which arrived in 2013 if you'll recall.
The range and price of the new 500e will certainly attract a different kind of buyer than the casual EV shopper who's looking to replace a gas-engine crossover.

Lotus EVs Push the Brand toward a New Record

Lotus may not be synonymous with electric cars, at least not yet. But in 2023, EVs accounted for 63% of all Lotus vehicles delivered to buyers.

"The increase in deliveries was driven primarily by Eletre, the company's first lifestyle BEV, which ramped up production and sales in the second half of the year," the automaker noted.

And just last month Lotus began deliveries of the Emeya, which is due to land in Europe in the second half of the year.

With the Lotus Eletre on its way to the US later this year, perhaps it's time to get reacquainted with this automaker, which plans to triple last year's record in 2024.

Here's How Kia Imagines Its Electric Future
