We Test 5 Geely Cars from China—But Are Any Coming to the US Market?
There are over 100 different carmakers in China, and they're cranking out over 30 million cars a year. So it's inevitable that cars from China will eventually be sold in the US, and soon.
In fact, some already are, but they have laundered their names to hide their origins: the Buick Envision, the Lincoln Nautilus, and the former Volvo S90, are all made in China.
Volvo and Polestar are part of Geely (pronounced jee-lee), full name Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. (ZGH), often shortened to Geely Holding, or just Geely. Geely holds dominion over 17 brands, including Lotus and Smart, along with a bunch of others you've never heard of. Last year, Geely sold over 3 million vehicles worldwide, more than half of them EVs and hybrids.
