Inside the Federal Government's Retreat From Electric Vehicles      On his first day in office, January 20, 2025, President Trump made it clear that he intended to demonize electric vehicles by issuing an executive order, "Unleashing American Energy," that called for eliminating the "electric vehicle (EV) mandate," as well as throwing overboard "unfair subsidies and other ill-conceived government-imposed market distortions that favor EVs over other technologies."    Two months later, the General Services Administration (GSA), the keeper of the federal fleet, issued its own order making concrete the administration's plans for the federal fleet.    Read more here. If Chinese vehicles were to come in today, they wouldn't sell and kill the US market, because the values and priorities of American buyers are different."    Thus spake the bluntly spoken president of Strategic Vision, Alexander Edwards, who addressed members of the International Motor Press Association and other auto journalists December 16. READ THE FULL STORY This Electric Vehicle Just Set an Electric Efficiency Record      Your typical, generic electric car uses anywhere from 15–20 kWh of battery to go 62 miles (or 100 kilometers, if you're anywhere outside the US). For comparison's sake, small, efficient city cars use 12-15 kWh to go that same 62 miles. And larger SUVs or performance EVs eat up 18-25 kWh/62 miles or more, depending heavily on speed, temperature, and driving style.    But what if you did away with the amenities of a passenger car and went for pure efficiency?
