2027 Highlander EV Brings 338 HP and 320 Miles of Range The Highlander SUV was once a major player in the crossover utility vehhicle market, peaking at 264,128 sales in 2021, but as buyers migrated upscale to the larger Grand Highlander, the former plain-ol'-Highlander took a major hit. Sales in 2025 were just 56,208. So the company swapped out the internal combustion and hybrid powertrains for an all-EV lineup for the 2027 model year and—voila—here you have the BEV Highlander, due out later this year. Highlander has been the choice of young families on a budget since it came out in 2000, one of the first crossover SUVs to ride on a unibody platform, this one shared with the Camry.
